Perspectives on the job market and using artificial intelligence in the daily routine.

A survey conducted in March 2023 with 215 Brazilian professionals from different sectors registered on the Alstra Technologies platform presented interesting data on the current state of the job market and prospects regarding artificial intelligence in the future of work

One surprising fact was that only 22.8% of the surveyed population has not yet used AI tools. This shows how the adoption of these systems is here to stay. The topic gained even more momentum in December 2022 with the launch of Chat GPT, and just 4 months later, we are already seeing a multitude of new tools emerging, and professionals from a wide variety of fields are incorporating them into their daily work.

What stood out in the profile of the interviewees was the most representative age group being from 45 to 54 years old, with almost half working under the formal labor regime (CLT). This shows that many senior-level professionals are seeking to remain current and understand the new trends and emerging technologies in the job market.

An analysis of the areas in which the professionals work shows a great diversity of education and specializations, with a highlight on fields such as Administration, Accounting, Information Technology, and Engineering.

The survey also revealed that the majority of professionals no longer work on-site, which is indicative of a new era of work. This is a direct reflection of the changes brought about by the pandemic, which led many companies to adopt remote work and flexible schedules.

Although a good portion of interviewees stated that they are satisfied with their current job, the majority are considering changing jobs in the next few years. This may indicate that many professionals are still seeking new opportunities and challenges and envision significant changes in the job market.

Further investigation of the reasons that would make people change jobs led to observations that the vast majority would make this shift to seek challenging projects in other companies and also to work for a foreign company. Along with this combination, the remote work factor is once again seen as a priority for these professionals, providing more quality of life and flexibility.

Another pertinent aspect that can be observed is the preference for job location. The most desired location by the interviewees, if they had an opportunity to work for a foreign company, was Europe, but with almost the same percentage as those who prefer to continue working in Brazil, but remotely.

This shows that the desire to work outside Brazil is still high, mainly due to financial reasons, but a fusion of working remotely and earning in a more valuable foreign currency seems to be the best of both worlds.

Diving deeper into the topic of using Artificial Intelligence in the daily work routine, it was interesting to note that even though most professionals have a basic understanding of the subject, they envision a change in their respective jobs. Many consider themselves laymen on the matter or have not yet adopted the use of AI tools in their daily routine, but they are open to the changes that this new technology is already causing in the market:

I am a software developer and I sincerely believe that AI came to help us solve problems.”

I work in project management and AI is already changing the way we do things. Machine learning is already present in PM.”

Veja outros depoimentos de profissionais entrevistados:

We have recently had few opportunities for remote work and a lot of layoffs happening. I believe the market will change and help many people as well.”

The use of AI in a small company can revolutionize how we interact with the market and the public.”

As a project consultant, we face challenges of communication, interacting with people and solving complex problems. Artificial Intelligence is evolving and tends to become an indispensable tool in decision-making and problem-solving for our challenges.”

This data is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to interesting information found in the survey. It shows a job market that is constantly changing, with new forms of work and various issues regarding the impact that Artificial Intelligence is already causing. But beyond the concerns about the changes that these technologies bring, it is also possible to notice the new demand for learning and adaptation with these tools, providing new professional opportunities for various fields of work.
